Phase I – Original Building

You will be thrilled when you experience the progress of the West Shore Theatre! The original building was rescued and purchased by a group of resolute community leaders who formed the nonprofit, Friends of the West Shore Theatre, Inc. to save and develop the theatre into an arts center for the region.

With an eye to restoring the flavor of the original theatre, woodwork was restored and duplicated, the beloved ceiling has been positioned in the lobby, and the grand art-deco side wall design is exactly duplicated preserving the elegance of the original theatre.

The added stage, retractable screen, booth seating arrangement, and concessions have all been reinvented to be modern and functional to meet customer comfort for today’s functions.

Visitors from arts groups, nonprofit organizations, business leaders and more visit daily to observe project progress and immediately want to know how they can sign up to use the space for their event, recital, or function.

Phase I construction of the theatre building is complete, but funding is not yet all in place. Phase I still requires approximately $500.000 to be completely paid for. Please consider donating today. We also have naming opportunities still available.

Phase II – The Annex

Working designs for the Annex are being developed and planned for Fall 2022. The Annex will be built directly to the back of the theatre building and provide approximately 3,800 square feet in a two-story structure.

The Annex is vital for the West Shore Theatre to fully implement all planned programming.

The Annex plan includes the addition of a green room to support stage presentations (place for performers to change costumes or powder noses) and will also accommodate small receptions and meetings.

A piano room, named in memory of Jon LaFaver, Esq., will be home to a baby grand, particularly important because there is no room on the stage to house a piano. The elevator is at the heart of the construction, moving the entire Center, the theatre building and the Annex to being accessible for all. The elevator will move guests from ground level to stage level, to first floor level, and the second floor.

The catering kitchen will offer appropriate working space for outside caterers to provide food for activities in the main theatre and in the educational/reception room. It will also provide working space for volunteers during events and educational sessions.

Thesecond-floor education/reception room will provide space for classes and workshops in theatre arts for youth and adults, meeting space, reception space for events and weddings, and more.

The estimated cost of construction for the Annex is $1,000,000. We will break ground only when all funds are secured with construction moving quickly to completion. Every gift is important toward the completion of the Annex, so donate today or consider our naming opportunities.
